देश ऐसे भू-क्षेत्र होते हैं जिनकी अपनी सरकार, सीमाएँ और राष्ट्रीय पहचान होती है। इस शब्द का उपयोग दुनिया के अलग-अलग राष्ट्रों के लिए सामान्य रूप से भी किया जाता है।

यह 'country' का बहुवचन है। आम संयोजन हैं: 'different countries', 'developing countries', 'across many countries'। 'country' के 'देश' वाले अर्थ को 'गाँव/देहात' या 'country music' वाले अर्थ से न मिलाएँ।
