Definition
Un coroner es un funcionario público que investiga ciertas muertes, especialmente las repentinas, violentas o sin explicación clara. En algunos lugares, también determina oficialmente la causa de la muerte.

Se usa sobre todo en contextos legales, médicos y periodísticos. La función exacta cambia según el país o la región: 'coroner' no siempre equivale a 'medical examiner', aunque muchos estudiantes los confunden. Combinaciones frecuentes: 'the coroner's report', 'the coroner ruled that...', 'called in the coroner'.
