Definition

誰かの見た目や仕事、性格などを褒めるために言う言葉。相手を気持ちよくさせるための丁寧な表現にも使われる。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

“Give someone a compliment”や“pay someone a compliment”のように使う。複数形“compliments”は褒め言葉が複数ある場合に使う。“compliment”と“complement”は意味が違うので注意。“With my compliments”は丁寧な挨拶として使われる。
