Definition

কাউকে বা তাঁর গুণ, কাজ বা চেহারা নিয়ে প্রশংসাসূচক বা ভালো কথা যা উৎসাহ বা সম্মান দেখানোর জন্য বলা হয়। কখনো সৌজন্যমূলক, মন ভালো রাখার জন্যও ব্যবহার হয়।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

সাধারণত 'give someone a compliment' বা 'pay someone a compliment' বলা হয়। 'compliments' মানে একাধিক প্রশংসা। 'compliment' আর 'complement' শব্দের অর্থ আলাদা। 'With my compliments' বলতে সৌজন্যমূলক সম্মান বোঝায়।

তিনি তাঁর পোশাক নিয়ে করা **প্রশংসা** শুনে হাসলেন।

He gets a lot of compliments on his cooking.
