海岸とは、海や大洋に隣接する陸地や地域です。国の沿岸地域全体を指すこともあります。

「on the coast」「along the coast」「off the coast」などの表現とよく使います。「coast」は広い海岸線全体、「beach」は砂浜部分を指すことが多いです。ここでは名詞の意味が中心です。
