두 손바닥을 마주쳐 소리를 내는 것, 보통 칭찬이나 기쁨을 표현할 때 사용한다. 그 소리 자체를 나타내기도 한다.

주로 공연이나 모임에서 사용. 'clap of thunder'는 갑작스러운 천둥소리 의미. 'applaud'보다 덜 격식 있다.
