어떤 것의 한가운데나 중심 부분. 또한 '쇼핑센터', '도심'처럼 특정 활동이 집중되는 중요한 장소를 나타낼 때도 사용합니다.

영국식은 'centre', 미국식은 'center'입니다. 'in the centre of', 'town centre', 'shopping centre' 등의 형태로 많이 사용됩니다. 모양의 중앙을 가리킬 때에는 '중심'을, 시설명에는 '센터'를 씁니다.
