यह शब्द मशीनों और उपकरणों के साथ बहुत आम है: 'press a button', 'hit the button', 'push the wrong button'. कपड़ों के लिए 'button up your shirt' बहुत प्रचलित है। अनौपचारिक अंग्रेज़ी में 'push someone’s buttons' का मतलब है किसी को जानबूझकर चिढ़ाना।
