‘ascend’ শব্দটি বেশি লেখাপত্রে বা আনুষ্ঠানিক প্রসঙ্গে ব্যবহৃত হয়; দৈনন্দিন কথাবার্তায় সাধারণত ‘উঠা’ বা ‘চড়া’ বেশি ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন, 'ascend the throne' বলতে রাজসিংহাসনে আরোহন বুঝায়।
