人や物のすぐそばにいること、または誰かと一緒に何かをすること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

フォーマル・インフォーマル問わず使われます。物理的な位置だけでなく、一緒に行動する意味でも用いられます。同じ意味の「next to」とは必ずしも交換できません。協力や並行して進めるニュアンスがあります。
