何かをする力や技術、機会があることを指します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

通常「to」＋動詞と一緒に使います（例：able to swim）。「can」よりフォーマルで書き言葉で多いです。「有能な」の意味でも使います（an able student）。「able to can」は使いません。
