Definition

誰かや何かから力づくや努力でものや主導権を奪い取ること。抵抗を乗り越えて得る場合が多い。

やや硬い表現で日常会話ではあまり使わない。'from'や'away from'の形で用いられることが多い。'wrest control', 'wrest power'のようなコロケーションに注意。'wrestle'（レスリング、格闘）とは異なる。

He tried to wrest the toy from his brother's hands.
