变得越来越小、越来越弱或不那么重要。常用来描述月亮变小，也用来形容力量或影响力的减弱。

“Waning”较为正式，多用于“waning moon”或“waning interest”等抽象概念。一般不用在除月亮外的具体物体大小上。与“waxing”（逐渐变大）相对。
