とても厳しい状況や困難な問題に直面している状態を指します。特に時間や選択肢が限られている場面でよく使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

カジュアルな会話でよく使われます。'in a bind'（困った状況）や 'in hot water'（大変な目にあう）に近いニュアンスです。フォーマルな場面ではあまり使いません。
