Definition

かかとをつけずに、静かにそっとつま先立ちで歩くこと。音を立てずに注意深く歩く時に使います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

過去形で使うことが多いです（‘tiptoed’）。目立たないように、音を立てないように歩く場面を表します。「tiptoed into」「tiptoed out of」などの表現と一緒に使われがちです。“walk quietly”とは違い、つま先を使う動作が特徴です。
