A qualidade ou “cor” única de um som que o diferencia de outros, mesmo que tenham a mesma altura e volume. Muito usado para descrever vozes ou instrumentos musicais.

Mais usado em música, áudio e fonoaudiologia. Pronuncia-se 'TÂM-ber'. Não confunda com 'timber' (madeira, em inglês). Expressões frequentes: 'timbre vocal', 'timbre intenso', 'mudar o timbre'. Raramente usado fora desses contextos.
