"tick away" in Japanese

静かに過ぎていく時間が刻々と過ぎる

Definition

時間がゆっくりと、時計の音が刻むように過ぎていくこと。時間がなくなっていく感覚や、それが意識される時に使う。

「tick away」は時間や時計にしか使いません。人や物には使いません。「the minutes tick away」のように、残り時間が気になるシーンでよく用います。

The seconds tick away as the clock counts down.

時計がカウントダウンする中、秒が**静かに過ぎていく**。
