কোনো কিছুতে সফল না হওয়ার ভয়ে বা ক্লান্তিতে চেষ্টা বন্ধ করে দেওয়া বা হাল ছেড়ে দেওয়া।

অনানুষ্ঠানিকভাবে ব্যবহার হয়; মূলত ক্রীড়া ও চ্যালেঞ্জ পরিস্থিতিতে বলা হয়। "throw in the towel" মানে সম্পূর্ণরূপে প্রয়াস বন্ধ করে দেওয়া।
