Reducir la velocidad o la potencia, especialmente en vehículos, máquinas o actividades. También se usa en sentido figurado para indicar que se disminuye el ritmo o el esfuerzo.

Es una expresión informal, usada en contextos de motores, conducción y también de forma figurada ('throttle back on work' = bajar el ritmo en el trabajo). No significa parar, sino disminuir la intensidad.
