Definition

正確な場所や数が分からないときに、だいたいの範囲やその付近を表します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に書き言葉で、数字や場所をおおまかに言うときに使います。「about」「around」より硬い印象です。正確な量には使いません。

Examples

It costs $100 or thereabouts.

それは100ドルか**だいたい**です。

She is fifty years old or thereabouts.

彼女は50歳か**そのあたり**です。

We arrived at 8 o’clock or thereabouts.
