特に必要でなくても、わざわざ手間や労力をかけて何かをすること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

やや丁寧な表現で、相手の努力に感謝する際によく使う。「〜すらしなかった」は努力しなかったことを強調する。後ろには「わざわざ〜する」の形がよく続く。
