किसी चीज़ के चारों ओर या हवा में गोल-गोल घूमना। यह विचारों या अफ़वाहों के तेज़ी से फैलने को भी दर्शा सकता है।

अक्सर चीजों (धूल, पानी, पत्ते) के घूमने के लिए, और विचारों या अफ़वाहों के फैलने के लिए रूपक की तरह इस्तेमाल होता है। 'rumors swirl around' जैसी पंक्तियाँ आम हैं। औपचारिक-अनौपचारिक दोनों में प्रयुक्त।
