突然且大幅度地增加，常用来形容人群、波浪、情绪或价格迅速上升。

常与“需求”、“人群”、“价格”或“能量”等名词连用。新闻、经济和天气报告中经常出现。不能用于形容缓慢增长，“surging”总是表示突然且剧烈的上升。既可以指实物（如波浪），也可以比喻（如情绪、市场）。
