犯罪や怪しい行動を見つけるために、警察や探偵が人や場所を秘密裏に見張ること。証拠を集めるためによく使われます。

主に警察や探偵の場面で使われる表現で、「張り込み」は名詞・動詞両方使える。単に待つのではなく、目的を持って秘密裏に見張ること。
