এটি এমন কিছু বোঝায় যা শ্বাস নিতে বা স্বাধীনভাবে অনুভব করতে কষ্ট দেয়, যেমন শারীরিকভাবে ঢেকে ফেলা বা অতিরিক্ত নিয়ন্ত্রণ।

এটি 'smothering love' বা 'smothering rules' হিসাবে সম্পর্ক ও নিয়ন্ত্রণ নিয়ে বেশি ব্যবহৃত হয়। মানসিক বা শারীরিক—দুই ক্ষেত্রেই নেতিবাচক অনুভূতি বোঝায়।
