道や道路に設置され、方向や情報を示す看板。比喩的に、何かを導くヒントや手がかりを指す場合もあります。

ふつうは実際の道路標識を指しますが、文章や話などの構成を助けるヒントについても使われます。動詞としてはあまり使いません。
