'Sharpers' বললে সেইসব লোককে বোঝানো হয় যারা দুই নম্বরি বা প্রতারণা করে, বিশেষ করে টাকার লোভে কাউকে ঠকায়।

এখন এই শব্দটি সচরাচর ব্যবহার হয় না, প্রাচীন গল্প বা উপন্যাসে বেশি দেখা যায়। 'ঠকবাজ'/'প্রতারক' ছাড়াও 'শার্পার'-এর সমার্থক শব্দ হলো 'জুয়াড়ি' বা 'ধোঁকাবাজ'।
