"Scruff" é a parte de trás do pescoço, especialmente a pele solta no pescoço de alguns animais, como gatos ou cães, que pode ser usada para levantá-los ou segurá-los.

Normalmente usado na expressão 'by the scruff of the neck'. Expressão informal, mais comum para animais, raramente usada para pessoas exceto metaforicamente (controle). Não confundir com 'scruffy' (desmazelado).
