工兵

Definition

工兵とは、軍隊で橋や道路、トンネルなどを建設・破壊したり、地雷の除去など障害物の処理を行う兵士です。軍の進軍や敵の妨害を担当します。

「工兵」は軍事用語で、歴史や軍の技術部隊について話すとき使う。一般会話ではあまり登場しません。「工兵が道を切り開く」などの表現が一般的です。

The sappers built a temporary bridge so the army could cross the river.

**工兵**が軍が川を渡れるように仮設の橋を作った。

Sappers are trained to remove landmines from dangerous areas.
