何かを聞いたり読んだりしたとき、それが本当らしく感じられること。

カジュアルな表現で、話や説明などが信じやすいかどうか判断する際によく使う。'That doesn't ring true'は「本当っぽく聞こえない」という意味。事実かどうかは確かめられないが、そのように感じる時に使う。
