किसी चीज़ में स्थित होना या किसी चीज़ पर आधारित होना; कभी-कभी इसका अर्थ है किसी स्थान या परिस्थिति में आराम से रहना या शांति में होना।

अधिकतर औपचारिक या काव्यात्मक संदर्भ में, किसी चीज़ की नींव/मूल बताने में। शारीरिक आराम के लिए 'rest at/on' ज्यादा होता है।
