～に求める～から要求する

Definition

誰かに何かを求めたり、要求したりすること。相手に何かをしてもらうよう期待する意味も含まれる。

フォーマルな場面や書き言葉でよく使われる表現。「require permission from」のように、人や団体を出所として使うことが多い。カジュアルな「ask for」とは異なるので注意。受け身形「is required from」でも使われる。

The teacher requires from each student a short essay.
