他の人やグループより先に何かを手に入れるための競争。ビジネス、政治、科学の分野などでよく使われる表現。

実際のレース（競走）ではなく、比喩的な表現として使います。'race for president' や 'race for the prize' のように、後ろに目的が続くことが多いです。
