場所や建物などを長期間または永久的に離れること。戻るつもりがない場合によく使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

やや堅い表現で、日常会話ではあまり使われません。「leave」よりも意図的にその場を離れ、長く戻らないニュアンスがあります。建物や町など限定で使い、仕事や習慣には使いません。
