몸의 중심이나 연결 부위에 더 가까운 위치를 나타내는 말로, 주로 해부학에서 사용됩니다. 반대말은 '원위'입니다.

주로 해부학 등 과학적인 맥락에서 신체 부위의 위치를 표현할 때 사용합니다. 일반적인 '가까움'에는 쓰지 않습니다. '원위(distal)'와 짝을 이룹니다.
