Definition

料金や費用などを利用期間や割合に応じて公平に分けること。全員に同じ額を与えるのではなく、実際の利用分で計算される。

主に請求や契約、経理の場で使われます。「prorate your rent」は日割り家賃計算を意味します。「allocate」は必ずしも割合に応じる意味ではないので注意しましょう。
