人や物を他の人に示すために指や手、物で方向を示すこと。比喩的に責任を示す時にも使う。

物を指すときによく使うが、人を指差すと失礼にあたる場合がある。比喩的に誰かを責める意でも使う。「point to」とは微妙に使い方が異なることもある。
