何かに勢いよく飛び込むこと、特に水に入る場合。または、活動や状況に急に深く関わること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

直訳の『飛び込む』は水などへ実際に入る場合にも、活動に積極的に関わる時にも使います。例:『plunge into work』は熱心に仕事を始める意味です。ゆっくりやる場面にはあまり使いません。
