Definition

पीठिका वह आधार है जिस पर कोई चीज़ (जैसे मूर्ति) रखी जाती है। रूपक रूप में, यह किसी को बहुत ऊँची जगह पर रखना भी हो सकता है।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

कला या वास्तुकला में आधार के लिए आम है। रूपक में, 'pedestal पर रखना' का अर्थ किसी को आदर्श बनाना है। 'Pedestals' का बहुवचन ज़्यादातर इन्हीं संदर्भों में मिलता है। 'Platform' से न मिलाएँ।
