'के अलावा' या 'सिवाय' के अर्थ में इस्तेमाल होता है। यह दिखाता है कि कुछ किसी समूह या स्थिति से अलग या बाहर है।

औपचारिक और अनौपचारिक दोनों स्थितियों में चलता है। यह हमेशा किसी चीज़ को समूह से बाहर दिखाने के लिए है, कुछ जोड़ने के लिए नहीं (उसके लिए 'besides' है)।
