কোনো বিষয়ে সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়ার সময় বা বিতর্কে যেসব ভিন্ন দিক বা দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি আছে, তার মধ্যে একটি দিক তুলে ধরতে এই বাক্যাংশটি ব্যবহৃত হয়। সাধারণত 'অন্যদিকে' দিয়ে পরবর্তী দিকটি প্রকাশ করা হয়।

সাধারণত 'on the other hand' এর সাথে জোড়া ব্যবহার হয়। লিখিত ও কথ্য দুই ভাষাতেই ব্যবহারযোগ্য। বাক্যের শুরুতে ব্যবহার করলে কমা দেবেন।
