Definition

イラクサは、葉や茎に細かい毛があり、触るとピリピリした痛みやかゆみが生じる背の高い緑色の植物です。庭や野原、森などに多く見られます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

普段は複数形で使いますが、植物として「イラクサ」と単体でも使います。触るとヒリヒリするので注意してください。英語の 'grasp the nettle' は困難に勇敢に立ち向かうという意味になります。
