입 모양만 내다말하는 척하다

Definition

입만 움직이면서 실제로 말을 하지 않는 것. 자주 노래나 말을 따라하는 척할 때 사용된다.

주로 비공식적 상황에서 사용. 노래할 때(립싱크), 누군가의 말을 소리 내지 않고 따라할 때 많이 씀. '속삭이다'와는 다름(입 모양만 내서 소리 없음). 모르는 단어를 흉내낼 때도 사용.

She mouthed the words to the song because she didn't know the lyrics.

그녀는 가사를 몰라서 노래에 **입만 맞췄다**.

The child mouthed the words after his teacher.

아이가 선생님을 따라 **입만 움직이며** 단어를 따라했다.

If you forget the lines, just mouth the words on stage.
