母船とは、小型の乗り物や船を運び、支援するための大型船、航空機や宇宙船のことです。作戦や調査の拠点として使われます。

この言葉は軍事やSF、宇宙、航空、海洋分野などでよく使われます。日常会話ではあまり使われません。映画やゲームでよく登場します。
