"Mortifying" es más fuerte y formal que "embarassing" y se usa para momentos que causan mucha vergüenza o afectan el orgullo. Se escucha mucho junto a "experience", "moment", o "silence". En la conversación diaria, "embarassing" o "humillante" son más comunes.
