Definition

ものを手や道具で押しつぶして、なめらかで柔らかい状態にすること。料理でよく使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に料理で使います。「mashing potatoes」はじゃがいもをつぶすこと。「smashing（壊す）」とは意味が異なります。音楽などのスラング用法もありますが、基本は料理です。
