"let one off" in Spanish
Definition
Permitir que alguien evite un castigo o una consecuencia, normalmente después de que haya hecho algo mal.
Usage Notes (Spanish)
Principalmente informal. Se usa mucho cuando figuras de autoridad excusan errores menores ('let him off with a warning'). Muy común 'let someone off the hook'. No implica perdón profundo, solo evitar el castigo.
