점차적이거나 갑자기 특정 상태, 기분, 행동에 빠지는 것. 보통 부정적이거나 바람직하지 않은 상태.

Usage Notes (Korean)

주로 오래된 습관이나 부정적인 상태로 다시 돌아갈 때 사용 ('lapse into silence', 'lapse into depression'). 'a coma', 'despair', 'sleep' 등과 자주 쓰이며, 다소 격식 있거나 문학적인 표현이다. 긍정적인 상태에는 거의 사용하지 않음.
