Definition

‘Lapping’ का अर्थ है पानी का धीरे-धीरे सतह से टकराने की आवाज़ या क्रिया, या जानवर का जीभ से पानी पीना। यह शब्द आवाज़ या गति दोनों के लिए इस्तेमाल होता है।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

आमतौर पर वर्णनात्मक या काव्यात्मक संदर्भ में इस्तेमाल होता है, खासकर पानी के लिए (“the waves lapping at the shore”) या जब जानवर दूध या पानी पीते हैं (“The cat is lapping up the milk”)। इंसानों पर इस्तेमाल नहीं करते। ‘Lapping up’ का अर्थ 'बहुत आनंद लेना' भी हो सकता है।
