누군가가 혼자 있지 않도록 곁에 있어주며 위로나 친구가 되어주는 것.

보통 비공식적으로 감정적 혹은 친구 사이에서 쓴다. 'keep someone company' 형태로 자주 등장. 큰 그룹에는 잘 쓰지 않는다.
